Welcome, nice to have you join us. I too make lapghans for our local nursing homes. I do a lot of rectangular granny squares (I belong to a group called Granny Squares of Love) Other than that I find what ever stitch pattern I like and make a lapghan out of it. The seed stitch makes a nice blanket, but it goes a little slower. It can be found on Youtube if you aren't familiar with it.

    Happy stitching,
    Judi G

My mother makes lapghans for our local nursing homes too. She uses all different patterns to keep it interesting. Sometimes granny squares, sometimes one large granny square, sometimes she makes the mile a minute style and other times just makes striped ones with all different colors. It just depends on her mood. We find that the basic difference on the lapghans is the size of it. They are smaller than traditional afghans and if you look it from that perspective you can adapt all different types of patterns!
