Stitch Markers...
Happy Saturday Everyone!
What kind of stitch marker do you use?
I crochet a lot and I'm always losing those little stitch markers.
I hate having to go buy new ones, they're not cheap.
I've tried those hard plastic ones but they slide out easily
and the smaller rubbery ones are very hard to insert into the stitches.
For big projects like afghans I use those really big bobby pins,
the average size pins work too but are a little too long.
Lo and behold I found some mini bobby pins at Walmart!
They're the perfect size and won't slip out of your stitches
and the best part is...they're cheap!
I bought this package of 36 mini pins for only $2.18.

Funny, I have used a clip earring when in a bind. I finally found some stitch markers on clearance at Michaels. I prefer to not pay full price! :0)

I love using bobby pins for stitch markers. I have been using the regular size, but the smaller ones would be good to use too. I'll keep an eye out for them. Thanks for the heads up. I like using items that are cheap, and easy to find.
Most stitch markers to me seem rather difficult to use, especially the ones with beads on what looks like an earring wire. I don't see how they stay in. The little tiny plastic ones that look like a safety pin would work well for some projects where you are moving the project a lot, such as the never ending granny afghan, where you carry several strands of yarn without cutting off.

I use the hard plastic stitch markers and the tiny safety pins attached to the tags of my Vera Wang clothing.

Most of the things I crochet don't seem to need stitch markers. But if I do need to mark a spot, I use a little piece of yarn, or sometimes a safety pin.

I usually use different sized safety pins. They work easily for me. They are cheap enough, always around, & easy to work with.

I pretty much use whatever I can find. One time a safety pin got all tangled up in my yarn though and it was a mess trying to get it out lol so I try not to use metal safety pins anymore. I have toyed with the idea of making some, adding on some homemade clay charms for cuteness. I guess that makes me crazy!

I use the safety pins ,too. When I was trying to learn to knit, my Sis got me started with the pins. I was using circular needles and I when stoped knitting I would fasten a safty pin around the 2 needles and my work wouldn't slide off. So there are always safety pins around my work area. And no, I'm not still knitting. I gave that up as a bad job.
