Find your Clan and make their Aran sweater.

I recently found the following site that sells patterns to make your Irish clan's fisherman's sweater. Mine is McCarthy from County Mayo, and just gorgeous. The diamonds, bobbles and cables all represent some particular hope or item, and clans (and, unfortunately, fisherman's bodies washed ashore) were identified by how they are arranged in the pattern. Each clan's pattern is sold as a knitting pattern, but I'm thinking I might try this in tunisian crochet. The main page has links to crests, history, etc. I'm a little excited at the thought of this enormous undertaking, so I have to force myself to finish current projects before I begin. Give me strength!
