I take my empty coffee containers, the large plastic ones with the nice lid, clean them out and dry thoroughly. They then become "yarn bowls", no added espense, if I want to and project isn't that big can store what I have worked and hooks and patterns sometimes, with a lid, keeps everything neat and clean. Now when the project gets too big, I still can keep my ball of yarn and tools in it. There is always the factor of the convenient carry handle also. I recycle as much as possible. The Large country crock containers are useful too.
