What is drop crochet?
I found a beautiful scarf I want to make, and it says it is drop crochet.. Is it necessary to use a special hook, I have all sizes of Crochet hooks. I would hate to have to buy special hooks.. But would if I actually have to.

It looks to me like Drops is the name of the company, not the stitch..... but I could be very wrong. -janine

there is a drop stitch that you drop the a row or so below the row that is being worked on but that is called a drop stitch I agree with the rest of the group drop crochet is the name of the designer

oh ok Drops design, I have used some of their patterns. they have some very pretty designs and they have their own line of hooks and needles but they as far as i can see (never used any of them) they are no different any other hooks

All the answers are correct. It is simply the name of the site. There is also a stitch that drops but that has nothing to do with the drops design name. So your hooks work on all crochet projects.

Thanks everyone, they do have gorgeous designs, and they are free, that is hard to believe.. Better copy them before they change their minds and start charging for them..

Like everyone else said, Drops is the name of the company. Your regular needles or hooks will work just fine.
