why is dishrag colors bleeding through?

I have used peaches and cream , red/white/blue. When being used to wash dishes the colors are bleeding through on the white. Now I am leary of using any colors at all and I bought so many dif colors.

Do you put bleach in your dishwater?

I used to put my cotton dishclothes in a vinegar water solution before I used them and this helped 'set' the color. They will bleed in hot water. It's just natural.
