HDC Variation Stitches
My goal for the new year was to learn some new stitches. First was the waffle stitch that I posted on the baby blanket.
Then I learned this super easy HDC variation. Instead of yarning over and pulling through all 3 loops; yarn over and pull through the first loop - yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops. Makes a neat pattern with a ridge that looks like this
Then last night I came across a super cool HDC variation that makes your project look and feel knitted. This is a little harder to explain so I posted a quickie video on my facebook page. For this stitch you insert your hook in the extra loop caused by the HDC that is located under the top stitches that you normally insert your hook into. I made this scarf using this stitch

I am giving this pattern away free today on Facebook and meant to post here too. Just shoot me an email (kayscrochetpatterns@gmail.com) if you would like it. I also added a chunky cowl version to the pattern.

I love your New Year's resolution. Thanks for sharing the stitch. I just thought of something. We can all share your resolution as we learn them with you.

I just made a hat and scarf using this stitch. You do a regular 1/2 dc but you insert your hook in the back (farthest) loop to make the stitch. It end up as a ribbing that looks knitted.
