I'm Shelley and I've been crocheting since my mom taught me how when I was in the first grade (I'm now 49). At the time, my dad was in Vietnam and my first project was a gift for him. It was a bright red oven mit with white trim made out of rug yarn (gosh I haven't thought about rug yarn for years do they still sell it?). Mom had to make the thumb part for me. Dad still hangs it out on his grill every time he cooks out.

I've been a single mom for almost 20 years. I work full time and have 2 boys who are currently both away from home attending college. I live with my 2 rescue doggies and my huge 80-pound black standard poodle named Cody.

I enjoy crocheting to relax and create. I like simple, easy projects either following a pattern or making one up as I go along. I prefer using 3 or 4-ply yarns instead of threads. I can see the results of my labor much faster that way ha. Bright colors are fun and cheery and they make me feel good. I've made many, many afghans and baby afghans over the years. When I was pregnant I turned into a baby bootie-making machine LOL. I'm currently finishing up a colorful large granny square afghan that I've crocheted 1960s-looking big bold flowers to tack onto. It's one big granny square with extra rows on the ends to make it rectangular. The flowers were an after-thought because I felt like the center portion was too big and plain. As soon as I'm finished with it I'll post a picture.

I have a question. I have been working on 6" squares for our CT. project and have one box ready to send January the 1st (as soon as I get the money'!! (smile). How do we know where to mail them? And to whom do I address them to? I went through my yarn bags and found about 12 blocks that needed only a row or 2 to make them the right size. I have them finished now so will mail them next week sometime if you want them right away. I am making more but will not send them until I have another box full. My son orders online frequently and the little boxes that they are received in are perfect for a dozen blocks or so and I have saved them. WAttachment 2401ill you be posting an address on here or do I go to Facebook for that info? Do you need my E-mail address or ph. number or home address and how to I send it to you? Thanks, redhead.
