Searching for Old Craft
About 30-40 years ago someone taught me to crochet around the edges of those rubber rings that go around canning jars. I believe you used about 5 or 6 or the rings and somehow connected them with the crocheting. When you were finished you would do a single crochet around the outsides for a border. These were then used as hot pads for your table. I really loved using them but can not for the life of me remember how to do it. Is anyone out there old enough to remember this project?

I remember the rubber jar rings-can you still get them?? Years ago I did a lot of canning and my MIL gave me a lot of jars with the glass lids that you had to use the rubber rings! I never saw a pattern like you suggested though! Have you tried some of the vintage crochet sites?

The only thing that I can find is the covers for the canning jars that are crocheted.
