I have a great fingerless glove pattern with a thumb that I found at: [URL="http://www.myrecycledbags.com"] I have made several pairs from the pattern and they look and fit great. This is a man's pattern but I also have a lady's pattern from: [URL="http://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Hats-Scarves-Gloves/striped-fingerless-gloves"] which has a thumb. They are very easy and very fast to crochet. Hope this helps

This is a very easy pattern with lots of options, but I'm not sure it is what you want re yarn type. On the website it says:+ You can work them with full fingers or half fingers, as you like, or even with slits in the fingers so you can poke your fingers through to fasten zippers, pull on mittens for kids, dig for change or find your door key."

These mittens convert to fingerless gloves by pulling back the mitten top.
I've made this pattern many times.

I have a super easy one that is made in rounds. No seaming! But it has no fingers at all but does have a thumb hole. Its a shell stitch.
I am working on a new one but its not finished yet.
