    Wild Parrots in my backyard

thought I would share a little bit of the wild parrots that hang out in our backyard. There are about two dozen of them but these little guys were hanging out on the power line. Thought you might get a kick out of them. We just love them.

I tried to identify your backyard parrots

Here's what I came up with after about an hour of researching. From your photos, they look like Nanday Conures. Here's a reference where you can investigate and learn more about them. ParrotFeather.com | Nanday Conure It says that they are usually in flocks of 10 or more birds. You could try feeding them fruits and nuts. Let me know if you are able to socialize them at all.

And, yes, I report bird counts to eBird.org on a regular basis.

I don't really know where they come from. As far as I know they are wild, and just hang out. There is another group of them that have all green heads with red around the eyes, but I haven't seen them in a while. These bigger ones may have chased them away. They love sunflowers. I'm going to plant some this spring so they will come in the yard and eat the sunflowers next year. They are so pretty eating the yelow sunflowers with their bright green bodies next to it. I'm so spoiled!

Oh I love the parrots. We use to breed parrots years ago. These are called Nanda Conures and the one we had was the sweetest thing. We named him Walker Texas Ranger.....Walker Bird for short. (my husband love Chuck Norris, can you tell?) You are lucky to have them in your yard.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
