    Ring Row Counter...

Has anyone heard or used these? I would like to try this...I found this website Knitting Ring Counters - Crazy Monkey Creations today, it's twelve bucks...ouch...but that's cheaper than what I've seen at the hobby stores...I'm going to hobby lobby today and I'm going to see if they carry this....just wanted to know you all thoughts....happy crocheting...

You need something to help you keep track of your rows, is this right?

Lol thanks Landon, when doing filet work, I am always counting because of the graphs I choose, so something to help me count less seems like it would help.

Here's what I do to mark the start/end of a round: When I start a project that will be done in rounds, I start with at least a foot long loose end. For each new row, I carry that loose end across the first stitch in each row. In effect it is woven through the work at the end of the rounds. When finished with the project, it is very easily pulled back out of the work. No more fiddling with those darn little plastic rings that are too small for my fingers anyway. No fishing around in my tool bag for those tiny things. Anyone else do this, too? TGsDad

I did a search on the brand names for the crochet hooks I use without finding any comments. I have a definite preference for Susan Bates hooks. When working on my 9x9 bedspread my mind wanders a lot. One day I decided to time my work and I found that using a Susan Bates hook over a Boyle hook, cut my work times for a certain set of rows by 10%. In my mind there are two reasons for this. 1. The Boyle hook is too pointed which leads to a lot of splitting the yarn rather than sliding between the yarns. 2. The Susan Bates hook has a better designed "hook" portion that leads to less yarn splitting during the draw through phase. I also prefer aluminum hooks over bamboo, bone and plastic. I have been having trouble finding anything but Boyle hooks up here in Niagara, Wis and Iron Mountain, Mich. Your thoughts? TGsDad

I couldn't agree more about the hooks....I prefere susan bates....I have one that is not and I've notice it too cuts into my thread once in a while..I like the weight of the bamboo but they make me nervous that they will break in the middle...as for the little plastic hooks I like them, my fingers are tiny so it isn't so bad to hunt for them once I place them right in front of me....I also like saftey pins, but those are tiny and a pain so I understand....cool idea of how you count your round rows, thanks for sharing...

Most of my hooks are Susan Bates! I like them the best! As for counting rows, a pencil and piece of paper work for me!

I don't like the plastic ones at all I snapped one in two and I didn't have that size in anything else so I had to wait to buy a metal hook. TGsd do you use a tool box for your hooks? I think that might be a good idea for me since I seem to have outgrown the bag I use now. How do the rest of you store your hooks and all the things we use for crocheting? I put a piece of yarn that stands out at the place I start the round and I move it up every row.
