It is a single crochet worked backwards around your work or edge. Instead of the normal working towards left you go right to pull loop through. Is this more confusing? Hope not.

I find this stitch 'interesting' to say the least...when I made a pie holder, the edge was rev sc and I thought oh this will be fun and easy...especially being left handed...um no...but it does create a lovely edge. Wish you well and you are doing a fine job w/ posting and getting your message across. Happy Crocheting.

The reverse single crochet is also known as the shrimp stitch, crab stitch, or corded reverse edging. You may be able to find instructions for one of these alternative, but equal names. If not, here is my take on the subject. Since it is used as an edging, I'll assume you are at the end of a row. Do not turn your piece nor make any turning chains. Just (for right-handers) insert your hook in the next stitch to the right and yarn over. Draw it through to make two loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through both just as you would for a single crochet stitch. But because you are working in the opposite to normal direction, this is a reverse single crochet.

    Happy crochetting!
