Here is a Red Heart pattern which includes for a child and womens:

I tried to search crochet mittens for teens and did not come up with much. You may have to use a smaller hook for the womans, or a larger hook for the childs. I will also keep looking for some other options.
You could maybe double the pattern for the child.

I was going to suggest using a different size needle too!

Lion Brand® Homespun ® Pattern #: 10116-C "Family of Mittens" is a free pattern from the company's web site.
Hope this might help. :-)

Lynne, you might want to check out life123.com. It has a free pattern on there that will fit either a teenager's or a small woman's hand. It can be made in various sizes by changing the yarn and the hook. Hope this helps.--Jan

My boss ask me to make her new grand baby an afghan with penguins on it. Does anyone have any ideas where I might find a pattern.
