    Hi I'm granniejane

I've been receiving Crochet Talk newsletters for over a year but have never posted. This is my first post. There are a couple of things I want to talk about.
Has anyone been crocheting Amigurumi? I have fallen in love. They are quite addicting and use up all your scrap yarn and a lot of other scraps, i.e., ribbon, buttons, etc.. I have arthritis in both hands and it is very gratifying that these whip up so fast. I have an 8 year old granddaughter, 5 year old great granddaughter, and a 4 year old great grandson, They love these things I can't make enough of them. My great grandson loves the finger puppets.
I have 3 daughters, 4 granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughters. Only my 8 yr old has shown an interest in learning to crochet. I have been having her practice single crochet and she's doing very well. Tomorrow I going to start her on a very simple baby afghan for her aunt's baby due in December. I am simply thrilled on how well she's done. I'll upload a picture when she finishes. I look forward to talking in the future. Granniejane

    H, Granniejane and Welcome!!

I am Landon, I am a self-taught beginner in crochet, but I love making beaded jewelry, I sew a little and am teaching myself how to knit. I think it is fantastic that you are teaching your 8 year old to crochet! What special memories for both of you! And she is learning such a valuable tool and to crochet a baby afghan for her Aunt's baby, WOW! That is fantastic! And yes, we'd love to see the pictures!

Any pictures you have of your work we'd love to see as well!!
I am so glad that you are here with us!

    Happy Crafting,
    Landon

    Hi Granniejane!
I've been crocheting amigurimi for several years now. My granddaughters (4) love them too. I think their mothers would like for me to back off a little as they have soooo many. I decided to take a box of some I made to the MUSC Childrens Hospital. This was a nice way to get rid of some I had stashed. I can only keep so many at my home,ya know.

I so love making the items. Have now gotten into making some dolls. It's a nice change from the animals.

I have quite a few free patterns stored on my PC so if you are looking for something, chances are I have a pattern. Just let me know.
