beg shell?
can any one tell me how to do a beg shell

Usually the 'beg shell' (beginning shell) is the first shell in the row. Without knowing the exact pattern you are using, if the 'shell' is a grouping of 5dc, usually the beginning shell is a ch3 followed by 4 dc, all placed in the space or stitch where the shell would be.

Yes whichever size stitch you are doing you start w/ the number of chain to make the shell; so if your shell is in dc like crochetgal said, chain three first...

I like to use YouTube to refresh myself on different patters. You can find the shell stitch and many more there. Just go to YouTube.com and search for crochet tutorials. I think you will enjoy them, it's like having your own private tutor.
