thread crochet how to

Hi can you crochet holding double thread size 10 would it then be about the same as number 3 cotton thread or maybe number 5 have a lot of ten and thinking of doing place mats for table but maybe would look better if i double the thread has anyone tried this or how about just doing with the ten size thread maybe will try one each way see how it looks if any one has posted a picture tell me where to find it thanks

Hello Chergram,

I took my size 10 thread and doubled it and compared it to my size 5 thread and it was pretty close. My size 5 thread is 100% Acrylic not cotton I don't know if that makes a differenced or not.

thanks for the information i use only cotton thread but am going to try with that
