Dogs scratching up blanket
Hi I spent months making a blanket with mostly tunisian simple stitch and smock stitch for my 71 year old mom.
She has 3 dachsunds that lie to scratch it! I thought the stitches would resist this but they are pulling up strands of the yarn. Is there like a coating or fabric glue that would protect it or minimize it? She really likes it

Here is the picture for everyone to see.
Beautiful colors and design. I personally am not sure about how to protect the blanket from the pets.
Others will be along who possibly have personal experience in this area.

Is there an opportunity to make something specifically for the dogs so they'll leave this one alone? That's all i can think of.

To my knowledge there is nothing to put on yarn to protect it from pulls from pets, other than some spray that would offend them so they would stay away from the item. Is there no way to tell/train the dogs NOT to do this? I've trained my 3 cats not to step on work I'm doing (2 like to share my lap while I'm working) and to not mess with my yarn. I've even forgotten to put my yarn up for the night, leaving it in an open plastic container on the floor overnight and the cats don't touch it. The only other thing I can think of is really trim and sand down the dog's nails so their damage would be kept to a minimum.

I have a min doxie, and she loves those curly things, that are usually used a lot for unicorn manes. I make them between 4 and 5 inches long. Then throw them and she runs after it. Then you have to fight to get it back from her to throw it again
