Wondering what this stitch would be called (it is Point Oursins in French)
Hi! I am translating a pattern from French to English, and was wondering what the name of this stitch pattern might be in English:
R2: Ch 1 to turn, -1 sc, ch 2 and 1 sc- in the same st (= pattern stitch). Repeat [x] times *skip 1 st, 1 pattern st*.
R3: Ch 1 to turn. Repeat [x] times *1 pattern st in the ch-2 space from the previous row*.
This pattern stitch is called "Point Oursins" or "Point d'Oursin" in French. It seems kind of like the "V - stitch" but with sc instead of dc.
Thanks in advance if anyone can shine a light on this!

Hi Nancy, Point d'Oursin translates to Sea Urchin in English.
I believe when you combine stitches in to one stitch it is called "Textured combo stitch" I found this video that shows you the technique using [1 sc,1hdc,1dc] in same stitch. It can be any combination or group of stitches in the same stitch to complete a textured fabric look. Used in scarfs, dish cloths things like that.
Hope this helps,

Thanks so much, Spoula! I may be able to use this.
I had looked up "Urchin Stitch" to no avail. (Actually, did find one use of it, but the stitch was not at all the same.)
Seems like sort of a basic stitch, so it's funny it doesn't have a name in English. Kind of like a sc version of the "V" stitch as well.

Hi Jean Marie, Thanks for the link. I liked the interlocking picture of that blanket but after watching the video I would not want to make it.
