This is a very easy video to follow with excellent directions, but the foundation chain row is tighter or shorter than the following rows and pulls together at the bottom. (See video) I have tried this pattern a number of times and the base row always pulls in and produces a look I don't like. Would using a size or two larger hook for that first row correct that problem, or should it be a row of double crochet to start? I am sure that many of you have used this stitch, so I am hoping someone has a solution. Thanks

Yea that’s probably a good idea to use looser chains or larger hook for foundation
