Help understanding measuring tape inches questions
Hi.I was wondering you guys can help me understand how to read a measuring tape.I don't get how they get the numbers?can anybody explained it to me and break it down for me in simple steps for a beginner?I need to know it for the gauge in pattern?also is 3.5 inches on a measuring tape if so where is it?

Hi spoula thanks for the help.how come they don't have 2/4 on a measuring tape?I also don't see 3.5 inches on tape for some gauges on patterns ?where do they get 3.5 inches?is 3.5 inches mean 1/2 inches (6 cm)?

Measuring tape
3.5 on a measuring tape is 3 1/2 inches.
