When doing this blanket in 2008 I made my own notes so as I could understand them (below).

ROW 1 (First, Third, and Fifth Panels)

1. sl st into first st,
2. ch 3
3. skip 1 st,
4. *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st,
5. skip 3 sts,
6. (2 dc, ch 1 2 dc) in next st,
7. skip 2 sts;
8. repeat from *
9. ending skip 2 sts,
10. (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st,
11. skip 2 sts,
12. dc in last st,
13. turn.
