Lace weight shawl pattern
Help! I have some beautiful lace weight silk that I would love to make a summer shawl with. Looking for a really spectacular design to show off this silk. Not many lace weight patterns out there. Any ideas?

Have you seen a pattern that you absolutely love? You can make any pattern you like using lace weight. Simply use a hook suitable for the pattern (usually larger than you would normally use for lace) and go for it!

My problem now is trying to get the lace weight silk rolled (it came in hanks). I've never seen anything tangle so easy

The easiest way to get your lace weight silk converted from hanks to balls is to put two kitchen chairs back to back and slip the hank over the backs. That way it will be held in place.
Then simply take one end and slowly unwind to form a ball. If you wrap the ball too tightly it will stretch the yarn and it will loose its lacy drape properties.
Just take it slow and easy. Once you've got it in balls, you can use your ball winder (if you have one) to wind it into center pull cakes or use it straight from the ball.Crochetgal on Etsy - Beautiful yarns, affordable prices
