What kind of stitch is this?

What kind of stitch is this?-14627768_10103576005208915_1920924767_n-jpg

I am a newbie to crochet. I received this baby blanket 5 years ago and I am looking to make one for a nephew on the way. I know baby blankets are supposed to be tight so no fingers get caught and babies shouldn't have blankets in the crib. I liked this blanket because the holes are too big for a finger to get caught and so if they pulled it up to their face they wouldn't suffocate.
My mom and I have been trying to figure out what stitch was used and I am unable to locate it on the internet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

looks like the stitch is weaved but it doesn't look like the basket weave stitch and I couldn't find what stitch it is. I did see that you found it on Pinterest.

looks like it's knit with every second stitch twisted somehow, perhaps a twisted rib
