Question crochet sleeves for sleeve-less dress

I have a jersey sleeveless dress with a deep V neck. I want to make some crochet short or cap sleeves, since I would like to wear the dress in cooler weather. Also the deep V neck is not as modest as I would like, so I want to crochet an insert to match up with the sleeves.
I'm not sure where to start or where to find a pattern. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The best source I found was at Ravelry, but it does come from a book. If you jot down the title and author, you can almost certainly get it from interlibrary loan. I like this source because it doesn't necessarily require threadwork, which all vintage patterns will. Here's the link:

Ravelry: Modern Harlequin Dress pattern by Linda Permann

For the sleeves, I would choose a pattern with sleeves you like that you feel comfortable doing, and make the sleeves only, then attach them to your dress. They can either be sewn on, or you can do the technique used to add an edging to a hankerchief or other fabric (sorry, I have never done one of those. Maybe someone else here has). A really good resource is Ravelry, if it's ever been crocheted or knitted, someone there has probably done it and posted photos

What about a shrug that just covers your arms? You could any sleeve length and any weight depending on when you would wear it. That way you could still wear the dress as is when it is warmer outside!

Yeah I thought of that, and it's a good idea, however when you are dancing( jive, swing) the shrug tends to slip off one shoulder or both, so I thought I might need something attached. I did find a v shaped filet pattern that I could use for the deep v neck line, now I just have to find a filet pattern for some short sleeves that match somewhat. The dress is solid purple in color. How about a shrug made as a rectangle with an opening for your head and then seam the ends for the sleeves instead of one worn just across your back. That would solve the problem of it sliding around when dancing. Would love to see a picture of whatever you decide!

That is an interesting idea. I could crochet it out of square motifs of the same color as the dress. It would make it look, very feminine, and the square motifs would make an easy opening for the neck and sew up nice for the sleeves. Hmmmm...now to find the match in color of crochet yarn. Thank you so much.!
