Help with Ch10 and joining into circle then dc.
Hi, I have posted once before as I needed some help as I am a complete beginner.
I'm now stuck further on in the pattern.
It's from Edwards Menagerie I'm trying to crochet the cat.
The pattern is for the ears and says;
Ch10 and join into circle.
Rnd 1 Dc.
I can Ch10 and join into circle but don't know where to go from there i need simple instructions, and should the circle be closed up or open with a hole in the middle?
Apologies if this is common sense but as I said it's all new to me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi well it's just as follows (this is based in the uk you may need to know).
EARS (make 2)
Ch10 and join into circle.
Rnd 1 Dc.
Rnd 2 (Dc2 into next st) 10 times (20).
Rnds 3-4 Dc. (2 rnds)
Rnds 5 (Dc8 dc2tog) twice. (18)
And just continues on from there. I understand all those instructions I'm just stuck on how to get going.
Thanks very much

Rnd 1----I am assuming you would put 1 double crochet in each chain. Then work round 2.

Hi,
I am making some slippers and it starts by saying to ch 5 and join in a circle and crochet 3 sc in each chain-15 sc. That sounds easy but it is difficult. I managed to get it but it took about 4 or 5 tries. Sometimes I can get it the 1st time. Other times it takes a few tries.

Hi - generally speaking when you form the circle, I would chain 3 (counts as 1 dc) then dc 9 more. That's how I would do it anyway.

EARS (make 2)
Ch10 and join into circle.
Rnd 1 Dc. -[B] One Dc in each chain around = 10 Dcs
Rnd 2 (Dc2 into next st) 10 times (20). - Two Dc in each Dc around = 20 Dcs
Rnds 3-4 Dc. (2 rnds) - One Dc in each Dc around
Rnds 5 (Dc8 dc2tog) twice. (18) - (Eight Dc, then DECREASE two times) around = 18 Dcs
Happy Crocheting! Ada.

I'm aware that US terms are different than UK terms: sc is the same as dc in UK terms, does that make sense?
