Help! Mary M. Cascading colours throw 98509

If anyone could help that would be great.
Pattern is worked like a triangle, from tip to tip. I can do it up to row 69 but then the left side goes vertical and looks like stairs while the right side continues to do its triangle shape. Rows 70 to 80. Called Mary Maxim and all customer service could do was read the pattern to me. There are no corrections.
Has anyone else done this pattern? I took out 11 rows of Prism yarn (this was an act of pure patience as this stuff tangles like a spiders web) and am about to go rogue and not follow the pattern. But I have hope.
