Donna, yes I think you could make this pattern. You make both sides and then sew them together. It looks fairly simple to me. I haven't made one, yet, but it's saved to my crochet Pinterest board. I think it would make a very cute shower gift.

Shelley, you are so positive and make me feel I can do anything in crochet! I might just have to make it to prove I can do it! But I have this huge afghan I've already boiught the yarn for! Well, I'll just have to put this stocking on my future to do list!
