I use different brands of hooks depending on the type of yarn I'm using. For instance for regular acrylic worsted weight I use a Boye hook. For cottons I use a Susan Bates hook. It's what works for me.

I have several wood hooks but I really don't like them. They don't have the flat part on the handle and tend to "roll" in my hand. It's very frustrating to use them and slows me down big time.
