Matelasse? What is it?
What is Matelasse crochet? I see it but can't make out what I is or how to do it.

Here is a helpful video on "What is Matelasse?" Crocheted matelasse patterns will give the same feel/look of the pattern.

Here are two links to matelassé. One is for the definition for what it is and the other is a link to some matelassé crocheted baby blankets. The baby blankets are beautiful.

click on the photo of the blankets and also read the reviews. Apparently it's very easy to do.Last edited by Poinciana; 04-09-2015 at 08:13 AM.

Here's a lot more links to some more matelassé crochet projects. Just go through them until you find what you need. I'm thinking you are most likely going to have to buy a pattern for it and just follow the pattern instructions
You could also try Craftsy. Perhaps they have a class that teaches the technique.
I hope you find something pleasing. It certainly is a very lovely and different crochet technique..
Here's the link to websites that mention matelassé patterns

I always thought matelasse was something all in one color with different textures for a dramatic effect. Here's a lovely pattern on Ravelry for a matelasse afghan. I've had it pinned to my Pinterest board for quite some time now. Still thinking about making one for my mom.

Thanks, Debbie. That's in line with what the reviewers at Annie's said.

Hey, Shelley, you're waaaay ahead of me. I didn't know that much! That blanket in Barbara's video fits that description of all one color and textured.
You chose a lovely design to make for your mom. What color would you make it in? So stop thinking about and do it, lol!
