When reading a pattern if the dimensions are 28x36 is it width then length? I want the blanket 32 x 32 I need to know if I need to adjust my starting chain... if it is width then length my starting chain needs longer. Length then with it needs to be shorter.

I would do a test chain and first row to make adjustments measuring as you go. Find the multiple and add or subtract chains to get the size you need. Often I make my beginning chain longer then needed and untie the extra chains. Hope it works out well for you.
