My neighbor's son (will be 12 in February) has been a part of the St Baldrick's event for the past couple of years. For those who are not aware, it is to help raise money and support those children who have been diagnosed with cancer. He has raised money and also is one of the many participants who shave their heads to help support, in spirit, those children who often lose their own hair during treatment.

While I am not shaving my head, I have promised to crochet caps for the kids and also adults who shave their heads as a supportive gesture to keep them a bit warmer during the colder months. They are all put into a container and everyone gets to take one. The event in our area is March 8 and as a basic pledge, I have said I will do 20 as a start.

I added the link in case anyone wanted to see exactly what it is all about. First is for the head shaving part, second is the main site.
