I an crocheting a hat for a child and am really confused on how to finish it.
It is Loopy Love Hat .

Roound 18. With smaller hook and next color in pattern, ch 3 (or CSDC) (COUNTS AS dc), 2 dc on first loop, 3 dc in each of the next 5 loops,
2dc in next loop. *3 dc in next 6 loops, 2 dc in next loop. Repeat from * once, join with a sl st in top of ch 3 or CSDC (60 sts)

Round 19-20 (continuing with smaller hook and same color as previous round. ) ch 2 (does not count as a st). fpdc in first st, bpdc in next st.
*Fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st. Repeat from * to end, join with a sl in top of first fpdc (60 sts) Break yarn and weave in ends.


My problem is I do not understand how to do a dc in front post of a double crochet then a dc in the back post of a dc.going sideways.

Front post stitch------insert hook from front " around post of double crochet stitch" and complete dc
Back post stitch------insert hook from back "around post of double crochet stitch" and complete dc.
