new to here
I am new to this site. Actually got here via Knitting Paradise. I do both knit & crochet. I like crochet but find some things like intarsia crochet very challenging so I am in the process of knitting squares for an afghan idea for a stroke rehab friend instead of knitting it. If anyone knows a good way to learn crochet intarsia & is there anything like the pics-to-knits for crochet?
Pics-to-knits web site allows you to download a jpg, select a what you want to make & creates a pattern for free!Last edited by augie; 05-09-2014 at 04:40 PM.

Thank you. The site is British and you can upload a design or one of your own photos. The program will ask about what you want to make...for example a pillow, throw, size. You submit. Then it will show you a photo and you decide how many colors: 2, 4, 8 or more. You crop to what you want. submit and presto! A written pattern appears for you to make your photo/design. Here is the site:
step by step guide » PicsToKnits
I tried a couple of our dog photos. I am trying to make a "communication lap afghan" for those who are familiar with communication boards where a client/patient points to a picture to "say" what he wants. So a friend had a stroke and tore up the regular pages so I thought since he liked my lap afghan maybe he could use this. I am halfway through square one of a four square piece. I am probably going to do 16 squares & crochet them together. I am using bright colors. I could not attach a copy since it is over the limit.
I do highly recommend using this site if you know how to knit. You really need to learn an intarsia to add colors, but it is a good challenge. I will take photos as I develop the communicating tool. Denise
