How do you learn the best with crochet or knitting?
Each of us learn in a variety of ways. Personally, I do better watching a video about new crochet stitches and projects. I am more of a visual person.
How do you learn the best with crocheting or knitting?
Reading patterns? Watching videos? Picking up the hook and just doing it?

Reading the pattern, and seeing a detailed photo of the finished item. Sometimes I watch youtube, but videos seem to go too slow and I get impatient.
Also, when my little poodle hears strange voices coming from my computer on a video - she just goes nuts!Annette

Well back when I learnt to crochet there wasn't any such thing as a video. So mostly reading the pattern and looking at the picture. But I have learnt a couple of stitches on utube.

I read the pattern and check out when they have pictures of a certain stitch to make sure I have it right and then just do it. I also do not like those international diagrams, takes me longer to figure out what stitch is which. And prefer written patterns not be abbreviated. Once in a while, I may try a video but not usually.
