My question was after the 5 dc's in rows 5 and 6 of the skirt and the 6 dc's in row 5 in the skirt do I ch 1, but looking at the pattern and your previous answer I need to do row 5 of the skirt over and ch 1 after the 5 dc's on row 5 of the skirt and after the 6th dc on on row 5 of the skirt. So another words it's dc, ch 1, (that's once) dc, ch 1, (that's twice) dc, ch 1 (that's 3 times) dc, ch 1 (that's 4 times) dc (the 5th dc), ch 1 (that's 5 times) so I need to ch 1 after the 5th dc on rows 5 & 6 of the skirt and then again I need to ch 1 after the 6th dc on row 5 of the skirt.
Whew! You got it I knew you would figure it out. I was going to suggest that you do Row 5 over again but you had already posted that you would before I could finish my sentence. Ha

On the skirt part of the doll dress I did 9 rows except for the last 3 sts on row 9 and overlapped the bands and joined them together and did Round 1 and Round 2 and repeated Round 2 13 times and now am ready to start the Ruffle.

    Hi Spoula,
I did the first rnd of the ruffle in dark pink and the next 3 rnds in red and now I'm crocheting the 5th rnd. I know you said 4 rnds would be enough. My neighbor did too. She said one more rnd would be good. I wouldn't have to do all 6 rnds of the ruffle. I'm doing the 5th rnd in black so it stands out.

Rnd 1 and Rnd 2 of the ruffle on the doll dress is v stitches and shells, Rnd 3 is scallops and shells, Rnd 4 is shells, Rnd 5 is dc's, and Rnd 6 is scallops. I could end on rnd 5 and just not do rnd 6 or I could do rnd 6 I'm not sure if I want to end with dc's (rnd 5) or scallops (rnd 6)
This is the dress so far:

or would you just leave the black off and end on rnd 4? Do you think the black looks o.k.? I have another shade of black that doesn't stand out as much but I thought the shade of the black in the picture makes the dress stand out.

    Hi Jean Marie,
I like it without the black but what ever you like is what counts. The dress is cute.

    Thanks Spoula,
I looked at the doll dress again and I think you're right. It looks better without the black. Although black does make things stand out;for the doll dress the black might be too much. Although I do have another black that doesn't stand out as much but I'll just take out the black that I did and put a button on the dress and leave it. I have other things to crochet. I have the football hat for my neighbor and the reindeer hat for my Dad for starters. My husband says I should make a unicorn hat - that that would sell.

Before I was done with the 4th rnd I thought I wouldn't have enough yarn and I was right. I didn't have enough yarn to finish the rnd. So I saw a couple things I had made that had some red in it and I took out 1 of them (a square that I didn't think was that great which I had tried to sell at a craft sale and it didn't sell and I'm glad it didn't sell) up to the red and used a little bit of that red to finish the rnd.

The square that I unraveled most of is - black and purple in the middle, red around that and then a green leaf on the side - which is still together. But then I had another leaf on another side and some 'off white' and a blue flower with my name on it. The blue flower -yarn was built up or thick - a 3-D. No pattern. Just something I did.

The other one is a heart on a granny square which I didn't take out. I didn't want to take that apart.
