Hi Robyn, I am assuming that you are using a cotton or cotton mix yarn in wosted weight? If so, I would recommend a 5mm to 5.5 mm knitting needle for dishcloths. If you prefer a slightly thicker look, you could use a 6mm knitting needle. I hope this helps you!
Determined,
Yes, that does help. My first attempt at knitting....now I know what size needle to use...off to knit...picture to come later.
Thank you.

Hi Robyn, glad I could help! I am a Continental style knitter and I crochet. When I knit, I hold the yarn in my left hand, as with crochet. A great video tutorial website for both Continental and English style knitting is: How to Knit | KnittingHelp.com
Have a wonderful day!

I use #30 thread and 0.7 mm hook. It works
Good MorningDetermined,
I have seen that on youtube and my newly acquired mother-in-law knits both ways. I am slowly teaching myself to continental knit and I emphasize the word slowly. I would like to master it so I can use this way of knitting to make myself my first sweater.
