What does this mean in crochet terms: dc in next 4 stitches 0 (1,0,1,0,1)

I saw a pattern with this listed in the instructions, dc in next 4 stitches 0 (1,0,1,0,1). What exactly does it mean?

This pattern has been written for 6 different sizes in one pattern.

I'm going to call the sizes #1, #2, #3,#4, #5 and #6 for simplicity's sake. For size #1, you would ignore anything in the brackets throughout the pattern. For Size #2, you would be following the instructions as written but substituting the 1st number in the bracket for what was written, and so on.

the pattern would actually be written "dc in next 4 stitches 0 (1,0,1,0,1) times"

So this would read the following for the various sizes:

size #1 - dc in next 4 stitches 0 times (Ie don't do anything)
size #2 - dc in next 4 stitches 1 time
size #3 - dc in next 4 stitches 0 times
Size #4 - dc in next 4 stitches 1 time
size #5 - dc in next 4 stitches 0 times
size #6 - dc in next 4 stitches 1 time

You will quite often see this notation when making garments. The pattern will be written for a sweater with bust size 32 with additional instructions for bust (34, 36, 38, 40, 42) for example.
