The final product! BETTY BOOP Afghans!

I am going to try AGAIN. to post the finished afghans and my niece's pictures! This will be the 5th or 6th time I have tried to post this picture! Attachment 14833Thanks to you Davena. When I saw your post in November 2015 I knew I wanted to do this for my 4nieces (my dec'd sisters daughters. My sister Betty 's nickname was Betty Boop..It was a total surprise for the girls. We have had a good weekend and I may be here a little longer before I go home. If you want to see more look on Facebook (under Debbie Ripple Day). I had no pattern to go by ...had to make up everything as I went. What a big job this has been! Love, redhead/Patty

Oh Patty, Just AMAZING , all of the afghans have so much work in them. All your nieces look very happy and will cherish their afghan for years to come. Redhead this is Charlie aka Charlye. I love your Betty Boop afghan. If you aren't charging too much I would love to have a copy. I had a Betty Boop doll when I was very young and brother broke it. He broke everything he touched. He was just plain mean. If you let me how much you charge I can check if I can buyit. I have been on and off here foor a few years. I have a daughter who the day before she turned 50 she was told she has stage 4 bone and marrow cancer. We have to take he to Dr appt and such so we get pretty busy with her, it limits my time on computer. It is midnight here. I have trouble sleeping about this time so I end up on here in the middle of the night. I a s sorry aout my rattling on. Please let me know when you can. Thank you for your time. Charlye

I am sorry I don't have written instructions. Maybe I can help you but later because I am in a nursing home since I fell. I can't use my left hand at all. I will be here for a while. Love, Patty.

I love Betty Boop and you did a wonderful job on your afghans.

I am so glad I got all the afghans finished before I fell. I won't be crocheting for a while I guess. I have been home since last Friday and doing pretty good. I use my rollator to put a tray on the seat and take my food into the living room where I can watch TV while I eat. Have had Visiting Nurses here and done a little rehab now here at home. Some one has been here 3 times already. I know what exercises to do now by myself. My neices brought me good TV dinners so I have good food to eat and easy to fix. AND KLONDIKE BARS , TOO! HA HA I have the emergency button now free for 60 days .It is waterproof and wearing it day and night. Patty/redhead.

Those afghans are super sweet! :cool: You did a tremendous amount of work in each one! And the results are well worth it I can see in your nieces faces as they proudly hold their prized possessions to show everyone. What a loving way to honor your sister to her daughters.

I know a lady where I work who absolutely loves Betty Boop. She has a tire cover on the back of her SUV with Betty Boop on it & decals in the back window of that vehicle. Often times she wears Betty Boop designs on her manicured nails. :D

I thought I would let you know I am thinking of remarrying. I have been going with him know for 10 months and he is a wonderful person. I don't know if you read about me meeting him, but we met online, and he only lives about 15 miles from me and I get along with all his children. God Bless You

I am being careful, there is a lot of things I want to get straight before we do marry. So far we get along great and I get along great with his kids and they like me. But I don't want to get married real soon, still want to wait for a little while longer.

I want to let everyone that wanted a Betty Boop pattern, know that I did the whole afghan without a pattern. I made it up as I went along. Totally by trial and error. Let me say this tho...I crocheted the whole afghan with single crochet stitches first. Then I decided what pictures I wanted to use and searched the internet for pics of Betty Boop and there are plenty of them to choose from. The rest was embroidered letters. It isn't easy to get the spacing correct so that the afghan looks balanced... lines long enough or short enough spaced evenly , etc. Sorry I don't know what else to say...except good luck and please post your afghan if you tackle it. Just use your creative mind and you may surprise yourself!!! Love, Patty/redhead

I am just curious... Has anybody else tried to make a Betty Boop afghan? I am sorry about the "no pattern" deal. I would be happy to share the pattern if only there was one. It took from November to April for me to get them crocheted to my satisfaction. Actually I finished the 4 pillows in my bedroom after the others went to bed while I was visiting my nieces. I wish my wrist was well enough for me to get back to crocheting, but I am able to work on plastic canvas while I am recooperating. Love to you all, Patty/redhead

I have never tried doing Betty Boop on plastic canvas. I still don't have a pattern for her. I did do a picture of my house on plastic canvas tho. And it really looks liked my house.... still with no pattern for it either!

Redhead, you did such a beautiful job. Brings back childhood memories when I used to watch her cartoons and read her comic strip. You do such beautiful work and I am sure that they will enjoy them for a long time to come
