Hello, I am a new member of this group. I am from the state of Maine. I retired from AT&T in !994 as a telephone operator after 33 years of service. My mother taught me how to crochet when I was in 7th grade. She taught me how to crochet doilies and I have enjoyed it ever since. She taught ne how to make those sweet pansy doilies and the first doily I made was Wish on a Star. A small doily, but very pretty. When I started out, I learned on size 30 cotton thread. But now I use size 10, which is coarser

Welcome Beverly! Looking forward to seeing some of your work. I haven't been brave enough to try dollies yet, but I am working my way there. Only been crocheting since Oct, finally graduated to making a baby afghan with a lighter weight yarn. My goodness it is taking forever to even gain an inch! But it is being done, and realizing that just the way you handle the lighter weight yarn to maintain tension is a challenge. So, I have a long way to go to work with threads!
Have fun!!
