SC for a rug?

Does anyone know if I can use single crochet instead of the double crochet on a rug. Would I use the same pattern and it be tighter or do I have to find another pattern? I'm beginning so I dont do well with patterns yet.

There are alot of different ideas out there for crochet rugs. Are you looking for a round one, a square one? Let us know more info and we can help you search for a crochet pattern to use.

Yes I am making round ones right now but some people like them to be tighter and denser. I would love to make oval also. Like I said it has to be super simple. thanks for your response! Also I am using t-shirt yarn
