    Boys crochet winter hat pattern

Hi everyone, I have been busy trying to get projects done for Christmas. I would like to crochet hats for my two little nephews age 4. Since I don't know what size, I am hoping some one here can help me.

I have never made a hat before so this is new territory for me. I tried one pattern and my husband just laughed and said they would never wear those. (He was right.. They were bad.. )

I have recently learned to crochet in the round and would like a pattern that is easy and doesn't need a seam. What I have in mind is like a ski hat with the little tassel on top.

Your help is greatly appreciated... and so are you!
    Angel Hugs,
    Linda

Here's the BEST hat pattern. It's done in half-double crochet and has instructions for all sizes without a seam. I've probably made 50 of these. I make chemo hats, plus I've made the smaller size for a baby.

I didn't quite get how to connect to crochet in the round. If you use the row you are working on doesn't it leave a gap in the brim?
Sorry to be such a dummy...
