Question Is there a formula for figuring hat size?

You're using a different yarn, different hook size and otherwise following the standard increase process for making a hat in the round.

My question is, can I tell in advance when I've increased enough and the hat will turn out to be 22" around?

Somewhere I've read or heard that when my flat round piece measures 5" across, I can stop increasing and continue making the rounds. That has turned out to not necessarily be true. Is there a BETTER formula?

    Hello,

I have not made that many hats, so not sure. We do however have these for you and anyone interested in it:
