    Converting c2c to straight crochet

I posted earlier but don't see it.
    Wondered why I wasn't getting a response.
I have a fallen arrows c2c pattern done in bulky yarn but it's the right size.
I want to make it in soft worsted for MY SOON TO ARRIVE GRANDSON!!
Doing it straight I don't have a pattern now just a chart.
Has anyone done this, what tips and tricks do you have?
Where do I start, what's the best cast on method?

    Hello,

I don't do knitting (when you mention cast on method). Are you converting a knit pattern to crochet pattern?

Be patient - there are those here who are more advanced in crocheting than I am.

I meant the foundation row. I did the hdc chain less t oundation and so far I like it.

    Hi.
Do I understand you correctly...you don't want to work corner to corner, you want to work from one end of the blank, like the short edge, say, and go to the other end, to make a rectangle, but you'd still like to use the box-stitch pattern that makes the conventional C2c blanket?

    Try this:

Chain a multiple of 4 chs, plus 2.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch, *sk next 3 chs, (sl st, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch; rep from * across, ending with sc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, *sk next 3 dc, (sl st, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp; rep from * across, ending with sc in last ch-2 sp, turn.
    Rep row 2 for pattern.

If you don't like the look of the sl st, you can try sc.

    box sttich

if you need it, there is a pattern out there that is for what you are looking for.. I had purchased the booklet before
hearing about c2c... and it is the same type of stitch but left to right.. visa versa.. Raverly has more info and pics of it...

    Pat,
Can you send a copy of the pattern or if you got it from this site which one is it. A lot of times it is easier if people can see the pattern. If you are following the pattern and it calls for a larger yarn and you are useing a smaller yarn. Just change the size of your crochet hook to the size that fits your yarn.
Please try to send a copy of the pattern it is a lot easier to help you that why.
