    Thanks Susan2014,
I'll try that but I started a 6 inch square w/a cross in the middle of it. the pattern says to ch 24 which is longer than 6 inches. I just counted the row and I have 20 stitches. I thought I chained 18 or 19. I also did a 6 inch round which I stretched into a square.

No, I haven't made any prayer shawls.

Just taking a glance at it, I would say chain two on step six in the first round. I have not made this granny square as of yet.

    Hi,
I just finished it. When continuing the square I forgot to put a sl st in so I just continued each round without a sl st until it was a 6 inch square.

I was thinking for a 6 inch square to crochet a square and then put a stencil over it and using a fabric marker stencil the picture on the square and then embroider on the lines that you stenciled and you have a picture on your square. You think that would work?

Also, about the granny square, which I already did, was I supposed to sl st at the end of each round cause I just sl st at the beginning when the pattern said to and at the end of the square before fastening off.

I was wondering what people are making with their squares. I'm making an afghan and I know there's at least a couple others who are making afghans also. Is there anyone who's making something else with the squares besides a afghan?
