It's the Newbie here again! I need some help please.

I am a beginner and I am doing a pattern for a Cloche Crown hat. I have completed the crown and am beginning the body of the hat. The instructions read:

"Rnd 1: [(Sc,dc) in next st, sk next st} around.
Rnd 2: [(Sc, dc) in next sc, sk next dc] around."

I understand Rnd 1, but am confused about the "sk next dc" part.

Would someone like to help me out? I would be so grateful for your kindness! Thanks,
    Marilyn

You skip the next dc you would work into and work only in the scs.

In row two you are sc, dc in sc on row 1, and then skipping the dc on that row and goin on to the next sc. to do the sc ,dc in sc. hopes this helps.

When you made the crown part, I assume you finished that part off with dc's? Rnd 2 is confusing. It looks like a typo to me. I think, I'm probably wrong here, but, it should read [(Sc, dc) in next st (not sc), sk next dc] around. You could always try that a couple of times and see how it turns out. Good luck!
