Basic "How to read a crochet chart"

This is a very simple entry into learning how to read a crochet chart (the site where I learned to crochet). By all means it doesn't show all symbols but it will get a newbie on the road.

Crochet School Lesson 21: Reading Crochet Charts - Craftyminx

Another wonderful site is Crochet Chart Symbols | . It has a more comprehensive list of symbols, and it is a good site to check out for different information for yarns etc

I love this website, and thank you Rosie for sharing when I was learning; it was really a good place to start off.

I'm so glad to hear that boopie. I hate to admit it, but I just went as far as the treble and didn't do any of the others and just happened to notice she had chart reading on it. Way over my head earlier anyway. Have fun!

I'm really excited about this. There was a shawl that I was looking at to make for my MIL but it was done by chart and I passed it over as I didn't know how to read charts. Now I'm going to go find a pattern probably not that shawl as I need something easier for my first project. I can't wait to make something from a chart. Think I'll wait until after the first of the year too. Thanks again!
