Hi BarbySue, here is Mickeys website, I mostly follow him on FB.
The Crochet Crowd
he actually calls it a "Club Challenges" and throws everyone who submits a pic of a finished project into a hat, draws a name and that person usually receives something from Red Heart.
This month he is doing a challenge on the "Wave blanket" and has a wonderful video to help people who are just starting to crochet, or having problems getting started! I'm thinking about doing it because I was going to do a afghan for my God Daughter and this would be an easier one than the one was was going to do

what is a CAL?

lol, yup, except I don't wear that really silly cheese head hat! CAL, means crochet along. That is where lots of people will get together a crochet the same pattern, and we will usually do a simple pattern, but sometimes some of us will get together and crochet a challenge (like the frilly scarf a couple of months ago, but some of the patterns are really a great challenge, like the Renaissance Tunic). We've done them here, but haven't for the last couple of months. Mickey usually does a large project like an afghan or something and challenge people to use their imagination in colors and embellishments to the pattern.
