The top for attaching is usually crocheted to a regular small towel.

Yes, it's prettier. That was not my concern, though. I was wondering if the crocheted towel (the usable section) is as good as regular kitchen towelling fabric. I've used Lily Sugar'n Cream Solids & Denim , as recommended, for crocheting dish cloths, but this towel is not meant for use as a dishcloth.

I guess I was under the impression that these were meant to be of practical use, i.e., as kitchen towels and not decorations as such, so I guess I was mistaken.
