Quick way to join yarn

Next time I need to join yarn I'll try it this way.

When crocheting, the thumb of the hand that holds the crochet hook moves back and forth but my hand stays in the same place. On the video above and other videos when crocheting, people don't move their thumb on the crochet hook. I tried this a little bit and this way and have to try it again. This way it's not as hard on your thumb of your hand that holds the hook.
